ESMT European School of Management and Technology is hiring nine new professors this year, fulfilling the promise President Lars-Hendrik Röller made at his inauguration in September 2006. He said, “The fact that we could attract these professors shows that ESMT is an appealing location for excellent research and teaching. With the help of these new faculty members, ESMT will continue to gain in importance and to expand its position among other business schools in Germany and Europe. “
Röller made clear that ESMT’s expansion would continue. He said, “We want to strengthen the brain gain and draw further top people to Berlin.” The faculty should continue to grow in the next year as well.
The new faculty members come from international and national business schools and universities. A detailed list:
- Luc Wathieu, Belgium, Professor, from September 2007. Currently Assoc Prof of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, USA. With executive education faculty roles in HBS's Strategic Marketing Management Program and Senior Executive Program in China.
- Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, Austria, Professor, from September 2007. Currently Associate Professor of Public Policy in the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University, USA.Mayer-Schonberger has advised leading organisations on regulatory and policy intitiatives.
- Francis de Vericourt, France, Professor, Associate Dean for Research, from September 2007. Currently Associatiate Professor or Operations Management at Duke University, USA.Faculty for the EMBA and various exec-ed programs.
- Jörg Rocholl, Germany, Associate Professor, from July 2007. Currently Assistant Professor of Finance at Kenan Flagler, School of Business, University of North Carolina, USA.
- Simon Wakeman, New Zealand, Assistant Professor, from September 2007. Currently PhD in "Contracting and Intellectual Property Issues in Technology Commercialization Alliances" at University of California, Berkeley, USA.
- Mario Rese, Professor, Germany, from October 2007. Joint Appointment with the Ruhr-Universität Bochum where he is Chair of Business Administration specialising in Marketing.
- Guillermo Baquero, Assistant Professor, Ecuador, from September 2007. Joint Appointment with RSM Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands where he is Assistant Professor of Finance.
- Rajshri Jayaraman, Canada, Assistant Professor, since June 2007. Previously at Center for Economic Studies, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich where she was Assistant Professor for European Competitiveness
- Michal Grajek, Poland, Assistant Professor, since January 2007. Previously
he worked as a Research Fellow in the unit “Competitiveness and Industrial Change” of the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin researching the "Internet Economy"
