IESE, the Barcelona and Madrid based business school has announced it is to set-up an office in New York to foster its executive education programs and corporate relations in N. America. IESE already has several US collaborations.
As part of it's decision to expand its presence in North America, IESE Business School will be opening offices in the United States, with its first center to be inaugurated in New York this coming September. Specific goals for this country include establishing a research center on global business, and promoting activities for IESE's executive programs, alumni and US firms. The director of the New York center will be Professor Eric Weber, who will continue as Associate Dean of IESE.
The opening of this center, which was made possible with the help of a group of alumni, builds upon its global presence through its Programs in four continents: Europe (Munich and Warsaw), Asia (India and China), Latin America (Brazil) and Africa (Kenya). IESE also offers programs in collaboration with associate business schools in fourteen countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Since it was founded in the 1958, IESE has enjoyed a close relationship with Harvard Business School. The collaboration between the two schools has continued to grow and IESE has had the support of Harvard in numerous projects: the launch of the MBA; the development of joint programs for executives; the support for new schools in other continents; and collaboration in case studies and research projects. The Harvard-IESE Committee meets annually to study the future of business education for executives and to work on issues of shared interest.
Over the past three years, IESE has been working with the Institute of Media and Entertainment (IME) in New York, offering joint executive programs on technology, innovation and leadership in those industries. IESE will continue this alliance with IME. The Global Executive MBA program offers a two-week residential module in Silicon Valley.
With respect to the In Company programs, IESE has in recent years taught programs in North American companies such as Boeing, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard and Abbott Laboratories.
Furthermore, IESE has a large number of North American alumni with over 400 current members divided among the regional alumni chapters in cities such as Boston, New York, Miami, Denver, Los Angeles, Washington and San Francisco.
IESE's Continuous Education programs for alumni are offered throughout the year, as well as other events such as reunions which serve to share experiences and maintain a close relationship with the school.
