New Direct Marketing Academy Launched in Brussels
6 June 2008
Brussels, 1st June 2008. World’s leading Direct Marketing guru Drayton Bird embarks on what he describes as “the most ambitious and worthwhile adventure of my career”.
He has just launched a new European Academy of Direct and Interactive Marketing (EADIM), under the auspices of FEDMA – the Federation of European Direct Marketing and in partnership with 12 European DMAs.
"Marketing is booming in Central and Eastern Europe - and it will continue to do so. Much faster than in the Western economies. There is plenty of enthusiasm, talent and imagination. But one essential is missing.
There’s a desperate need for more trained, qualified people - quickly. But until now there has been little or no proper, structured training leading to official, recognised European professional qualifications.
This is exactly why I embarked on this adventure and what EADIM will provide” - Drayton Bird.
The faculty only includes world leading marketers and business people, who have been teaching for some years. Here are just some:
Professor Srikumar Rao of London Business School and Columbia, whose work has been praised in The Wall Street Journal, Time, Fortune and many other publications. Steve Harrison, former Creative Director of Wunderman, Europe;
Rowan Gormley, co-founder with Sir Richard Branson of three successful Virgin companies;
Ales Lisac, the leading teacher and direct marketing entrepreneur in Slovenia, who has worked successfully in a number of countries including Poland and Croatia.
The first Certificate in Direct and Interactive Marketing
starts 7th September.
The Certificate lasts 1 year (120 hours of teaching) and will culminate with a formal exam. Only students who attend at least 80% of the lectures, successfully complete a demanding assignment and pass the final exam will be awarded the European Certificate in Direct and Interactive Marketing.
The course starts with a one week residential course in Brussels (7th-13th September 2008) followed by 11 months of online seminars (4 hours a month). The advantage of these onliune seminars is simple, says Bird:
“Unlike face to face teaching, you can look at these seminars time and again, when you want to, to fit in with your personal schedule and needs.”
There will be a limit of 100 – 120 students - Marketing and campaign managers, entrepreneurs wishing to explore direct routes to market and the staff of large companies, suppliers and agencies.
