Qatargas has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University, through its campus in Qatar and the Pittsburgh-based Tepper School of Business, to hold the first of seven Executive Education modules for Qatargas senior leaders.
“This comprehensive executive leadership programme culminates months of close collaboration between Qatargas and Carnegie Mellon,” it was announced yesterday.
The Qatargas programme was specifically designed to support the realisation and achievement of leadership excellence for the company, according to John Lankford, executive director of Executive Education at Tepper School of Business.
“We built the programme around the Qatargas leadership framework and high-growth business context according to the company’s fast-changing business,” he explained.
Qatargas chairman and CEO Faisal al-Suwaidi said that in a rapidly changing and complex business environment with multiple challenges and opportunities, building leadership is critical in organisations like Qatargas in its quest to move from good to great.
“Qatargas chose to partner with Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business because of its reputation for high-quality business education in the United States, where it is ranked as one of the top schools,” he said.
Qatargas chief operating officer (administration) Ghanim al-Kuwari said that the company is committed to developing the leadership capabilities of its management leaders through this intensive learning programme.
Carnegie Mellon University provides Executive Education programmes to corporations and organisations all over the world.
The mission of Executive Education is to disseminate practical, research-based management knowledge and create a collaborative loop between Carnegie Mellon faculty and business leaders. Executive Education programmes also are a vital component in Carnegie Mellon Qatar’s role in shaping Qatar into a knowledge-based society.
“Our programmes show companies how leading-edge business concepts and models can build on their success,” Lankford said.
The Executive Education programme for Qatargas will run through 2008 and will include modules on a variety of topics including global competitiveness, smart value creation, team collaboration, strategic cost management, leadership networks and international business building.
