Top Schools Join Goldman Sachs for 10,000 Women

Goldman Sachs launched an initiative on 5th March to improve the entrepreneurial and managerial skills of women in developing economies and will provde $100 million over the next five years to fund it. Called "10,000 Women" it will increase the number of under-served women receiving a business and management education and improve the quality and capacity of business and management education around the world. Currently seven US and one UK business schools/universities will team up with universities in eight different developing nations to provide programs, mentoring, research and partnerships for the project.
The schools currently involved are:
- Wharton
- Harvard
- Columbia
- Stanford
- University of Michigan (William Davidson Insitute)
- Brown
- Thunderbird
- Judge Business School, Cambridge, UK.
Their counterpart partners will be:
- The American University in Cairo, Cairo, Egypt
- Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India
- United States International University, Nairobi, Kenya
- University of Dar Es Salaam, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
- School of Banking and Finance, Kigali, Rwanda
- University of Cape Town GSB, Cape Town, S Africa
- American University of Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan
The six core themes of 10,000 Women are to:
- 10,000 Women Over Five Years Will Receive a Business and Management Education
- Build Quality and Capacity Through Global Business Sister School Partnerships
- Establish Mentoring and Post-Graduation Support for Women Entrepreneurs
- Work with Leading Research and Women's Development Organizations
- Develop Partnerships in the United States to Help Disadvantaged Women
- Commit $100 Million in Addition to the Time and Dedication of Goldman Sachs People
